Metadata Exchange using OAI

UCLA Library Digital Collections are available for harvesting using the Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting (OAI-PMH). The service is currently under development, but requests can be submitted as demonstrated below. It is our intention to support harvesting of both Dublin Core and MODS metadata through a fully functional data provider by August 2009.

Requests may be submitted manually to the following address:
http://digital2.library.ucla.edu/oai2_0.do.
For instance, the "Identify" request is submitted via HTTP as:
http://digital2.library.ucla.edu/oai2_0.do?verb=Identify.

Sample Requests Using the OAI-PMH 2.0

These requests return XML, so they require an XML-aware browser (e.g. Internet Explorer 5.0 or newer). The requests are pre-configured to return data from the UCLA Library's Digital Collections.

Configure a request

Use this form to construct your own request. Note that a successful response requires that the request be structured legally according to the OAI protocol. An OAI tutorial may be found here: http://www.ukoln.ac.uk/metadata/oa-forum/tutorial/intro.htm.
